An ice pit transformed into a horizontal light sculpture and geological processes condensed into the rhythm of the digital age—Pixolith, a site-specific installation, creates a conceptual connection between naturally unfolding history and contemporary practices of storing and transforming data. Enter and witness a choreography of light whose changes reflect geological evolution—the pixelated pattern at the bottom of the pit settles, erodes, and reshapes itself, both slowly and suddenly. The installation is made from aluminum plates and illuminated by programmable light sources that generate constantly shifting digital layers. The title combines the term pixel with the Greek word lithos (stone), referring to the idea of a virtual artifact, a digital stone, or an artificially created mineral. The futuristic installation thus connects to the history of people and architecture, replacing the cold of ice with the cold of metal and geological processes with reflections of light.
